signal processing engine which enables
robust connection between the gateway
and a large number of wireless end-points
spread over a wide range of distances.
The Arduino Pro Gateway offers up to
eight LoRa channels in the 868 MHz frequency
band, allowing it to receive up to
eight LoRa packets simultaneously. It features
a Listen Before Talk (LBT) capability,
which allows users to transmit at higher
power on the first free channel, achieving
longer ranges than conventional gateways
for LoRa. The gateway also comes
pre-installed with an optimized packet
forwarder and a carrier grade network
server for LoRaWAN that is running on the
Arduino Cloud, powered by A2A.

Multi-channel
transceiver
delivers high vibration resistance
Designed to operate in environments
with high levels of noise and vibration,
the VX2M is a NBFM 400-MHz band
transceiver from Radiometrix that meets
the ETSI Category 1 high performance
receiver specification, meaning that it can
be used where the operation of a short
range device may have inherent safety of
human life implications.
The transceiver’s sophisticated combination
of circuit design techniques ensures
the device is highly robust, with excellent
resistance to vibration.
Suitable applications include remote
controls for industrial machinery or heavy
vehicles, open cast mining, data loggers
and industrial telemetry, as well as specialist
fields such as close quarter weapons
engagement training.
The VX2M retains all the pin functions
of its TR2M parent, including noise operated
squelch/carrier detect and separate
digital/analogue inputs and outputs. It also
supports the same internal i1200 modem.
Conforming to the Radio Equipment
Directive (RED), the device has a high
performance double superhet, 128 channel
PLL synthesizer with TCXO. It offers
23 channels in the 458 MHz band and 69
channels in the 433 MHz band, and any
3 MHz band module from 400 MHz to
475 MHz is available as a factory tuned
custom variant.

100-W conduction
cooled terminations
BroadWave Technologies has developed
small, light weight 100-W terminations –
the Model 551-199-100, which features
a SMA male connector and the model
551-101-100 featuring a SMA female
connector.
Both devices are space saving 50 Ohm,
DC to 3-GHz conduction cooled loads.
The terminations mount to a customer
provided heat sink, exhibit 1.25:1 maximum
VSWR with an operating temperature
range of -40ºC to +70ºC.
These low cost units are appropriate for
commercial and military communication
systems, field and laboratory test as well
as site tower applications. Other connector
types and average power conduction
cooled terminations and conduction
cooled fixed attenuators are also available.

High current conicals
with up to 10-A rating
Claimimg an industry first, Gowanda
Electronics has announced the introduction
of new broadband microwave RF
conical inductors that provide DC current
handling up to 10-A – the highest level
in the industry – and low insertion loss.
The four new series – C305FL, C550FL,
C750FL and C1000FL – expand the company’s
conical offerings.
The performance ranges provided by
these four new wirewound flying lead
conical series include inductance from
0.30 μH to 22 μH (typical), Q from 30 to
66 (typical), maximum DCR from 0.02 Ω
to 0.265 Ω and current rating from 1300
mA to 10500 mA DC . All four series have
been outgassing tested per ASTM E595
and meet the TML requirement of 1.0%
maximum.
Developed to address market needs
and industry trends calling for ever-increasing
performance from broadband conical
components, the new series will be utilized
in communication applications for bias T’s
(filter signals, remove noise), broadband
chip manufacturing, communication platforms,
high frequency, microwave circuitry,
RF test set-ups, test & measurement, test
gear, test instrumentation and transmission
amplifiers.
Standard terminations and gold terminations
are RoHS compliant, while Pb
terminations are available on request.

Soft polar coding IP for
5G NR
AccelerComm (Southampton, England)
has announced the release of a software
only implementation of 3GPP-compliant
polar coding IP for 5G NR (New
Radio). The polar chain is optimised for
the Intel FlexRAN reference architecture.
The availability of complete 3GPP-compliant
channel coding chains optimised for
implementation in software-only, FPGA or
ASIC platforms will enable customers to
accelerate 5G technology developments
while maximising spectrum efficiency
through excellent block error rate (BLER)
performance.
The IP is compliant with the 5G NR
specification set by 3GPP and covers
the encode/decode engine, channel
interleaving, rate matching, and cyclical
redundancy check.
The processing performance is up to
2.5 times higher than the Intel SCL deco
